Car Insurance Sterling (Car Insurance). What gas scooter is right for me?What gas scooter is right for me? Here's some information: -The greatest distance I'll likely to be traveling is up to 30 or 35 miles away. -I need to be able to ride on the highway... I live on the highway and something that can't legally go on it would be useless. So above 50cc? I'm thinking that's what equals highway legal but I could have it wrong. -Something I could possibly take an extra person on. I myself am a little thing, 5'1 and 100lbs, my passenger isn't much bigger. -Price isn't yet a big deal as I'm shopping around but I am aiming for under $2000 if possible. -I'm not interested in something that looks and feels overly bulky, like I said I'm a small person. -I live in Michigan, hence those are the laws I must abide. -My riding will consist of errands and the like; going to the store, work, appointments, and things I would otherwise have to take the bus to do. I was very interested in the CY50-B 2011 from Tao Tao but it's not highway approved. *sad face* Two Motorcycles come to mind. Yes, I know you said scooter. But, the minimun scooter capable of all that you have listed is a 250cc scooter. And that won't fall into your under $2000 catagory. A motorcycle that is 250cc will do all that you have listed. You will need to learn to operate the 5 speed transmision. But, once you do you will be glad that you did. As Motorcycles cost less than scooters of equal engine size and motorcycles last longer. Two motorcycles come to mind. Yamaha 250 v-star and Suzuki GZ250. You should be able to find one for less than $2000. You could also keep in mind the 250cc Honda Rebel. Each of these bikes weighs about 330 lbs. Which is light in the motorcycle world. The Yamaha has a seat height of 27inches so you would be able to plant both feet firmly on the ground. And the Motorcycles are much better for carrying a passenger. The 250cc Honda Rebel is the most common motorcycle on the road. It has remained unchanged since 1985. So, parts are also cheap. The only reason I recomend the other two is that the engine is 16 horspower compared the the Yamaha of 21 and Suzuki of 18. Not much of a difference until you are on the highway. Can a car battery drain quickly if the one of the connectors is too tight.? The car battery is only half a year old. I went to AutoZone and they tried to test it but there was not enough power in the battery to test it. Also he looked at one of the terminals and said it looked a little bent and that might be causing it to drain fast. car insurance. Auto parts : Exhaust Heat Shield Jaguar 1997. Sterling . How to Fix a Leaky Exhaust SystemThis is about making a paste from waterglass and talcum powder to repair holes in an exhaust system, Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Sodium Silicate Magnesium Silicate Putty Knife Step by Step : 1 A leaking exhaust system is one of the things that is not only a nuisance, but they can be costly too. This is a method that usually works providing the leak isn't a major leak. It is based on using two simple chemicals that are available at a ceramics or handicraft supply store. The two chemicals are magnesium silicate and sodium silicate. Magnesium silicate is familiar to just about everyone as talcum powder; sodium silicate sometimes goes by the name waterglass. Sodium silicate usually comes already mixed with water, so it is ready to use. If you can only buy sodium silicate powder it is easy to make your own solution of sodium silicate because the powder is readily soluble in water. To make a 40% solution of sodium silicate solution dissolve 40 grams of in 100 ml of water. This is sufficient for making a paste from the ingredients. 2 Make a thick paste from the two ingredients by adding liquid sodium silicate to the magnesium silicate. You can buy this already mixed in most auto parts stores as "Muffler Repair" that comes in a tube ready to apply, but it is quite expensive. This paste is easily applied to metal parts. Once the paste is mixed it is ready to apply; this is done by smearing it over the area using a putty knife on your muffler or exhaust system where there is a leak. Start your engine and allow the exhaust system to become as hot as it normally becomes with use. This will cause the water in the paste to evaporate leaving behind a glasslike brittle mass that permanently seals any leaks in the exhaust system. This glasslike mass will last for a long time, and if it ever fails it is easy to prepare a fresh batch of the paste and simply put on a fresh batch of paste. If the paste that was first blended will keep if it is kept sealed from the air in a container that will keep it from drying out. 3 Sodium silicate is a chemical that has many uses; one of these is pickling eggs that was done in times past by placing the eggs shell and all in a solution of waterglass. This sealed the shell and kept the water inside the egg from evaporating. This would preserve the eggs in the solution for up to six months. If the eggs were hardboiled you would have to prick a small hole on both ends so the egg wouldn't explode while being boiled. This is because the sodium silicate sealed the natural pores in the eggshell. The same mixture used on the exhaust can be used to repair holes in stoves or furnaces as well as stove pipes or any other place that becomes hot enough to dry out the paste. Sterling . How to Install a Flowmaster Exhaust SystemFor as long as there have been muscle cars, there has been a desire by some owners to make their cars louder and more powerful. One modification that accomplishes both of these tasks is to install a Flowmaster exhaust system on your vehicle. The reduced exhaust backpressure associated with this installation will raise your engine's horsepower slightly, as well as give your machine a classic muscle car sound. The Flowmaster exhaust system can be installed on your vehicle in just a few hours with regular mechanic's tools. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need 2 Car ramps 2 Wheel chocks Penetrating fluid Safety goggles Gloves Adjustable wrench Flowmaster exhaust system Step by Step : 1 Back your vehicle onto a set of car ramps and apply the parking brake. Chock the front wheels to prevent any unwanted movement. 2 Crawl under the vehicle and apply penetrating fluid to the fittings on your present exhaust system to allow for easier removal. Allow the fluid to work in for several minutes be continuing. 3 Don safety goggles and gloves for protection against falling rust particles and sharp metal edges. Loosen the pipe clamps on the exhaust system by turning the clamp nuts in a counterclockwise direction with an adjustable wrench. 4 Remove the bolts from the exhaust hangers at the rear of the car with an adjustable wrench turned in a counterclockwise direction. Work the exhaust system towards the back of the car to separate it from the exhaust head pipes. Use a twisting motion on the exhaust pipes to separate them from the head pipes if necessary. Lower the exhaust system from the vehicle. Remove the rubber isolators and pipe hangers from the mufflers with an adjustable wrench turned in a counterclockwise direction. Save these parts for the installation of the Flowmaster system. Discard the old exhaust system.. 5 Install the rubber isolators and hangers to the new Flowmaster exhaust system with the original bolts turned with an adjustable wrench in a clockwise direction. Note that the hangers will install to your Flowmaster system in the same fashion as your stock exhaust. 6 Place the Flowmaster system under your vehicle with the mufflers facing the rear. Raise the system up and fit the front of the Flowmaster pipes into the vehicle's head pipes until they are fully seated. Attach the pipe hangers to the bottom of the car using the original mounting holes and bolts tightened with an adjustable wrench in a clockwise direction. Install the pipe clamps supplied with your Flowmaster kit onto the joint where the pipes meet the car's original head pipes. Tighten the clamps with an adjustable wrench in a clockwise direction. 7 Remove the wheel chocks, release the parking brake, and carefully drive the car off of the ramps. Tips & Warnings Tighten all exhaust pipe connections and hangers after the first fifty miles of driving. Never work on a hot exhaust. To prevent burns, allow the pipes to cool enough so that you can comfortably touch them without gloves. *Checking is especially important if you haven't changed the coolant recently or if you've been adding a lot of plain water. Little testers (see Figure 14-3) that are cheap and easy to use tell you whether the protection level of the coolant in your system is adequate. The instructions are on the package. They usually involve drawing a bit of liquid out of the radiator into the tester. Then little balls or a float in the tester tell you whether you need to add coolant. While you're at it, also check the liquid in the tester or reservoir for rust. Or you can buy test strips that do the same thing by changing color. v0 What kind of climate you live in: If the temperature gets very cold in the winter or very hot in the summer, be sure that you have enough coolant/antifreeze in your system before extreme weather sets in. In most areas, a 50/50 solution is recommended for year-round use. If the weather turns extremely cold, you can add a slightly higher proportion of antifreeze without hurting your cooling system. Chapter 14: Keeping Your Car from Getting Heartburn Never exceed a 70/30 mixture of antifreeze to water. Freeze protection actually worsens with too much antifreeze and not enough water. If the weather is extremely hot, exceeding the recommended proportions of water and coolant won't help prevent your vehicle from overheating; it may actually cause it to overheat more rapidly. How often you use your car's air conditioner Although the air conditioner does a fine job of keeping the interior of the car cool, it raises your engine's temperature. So be sure to have a 50/50 mix during the months when you use your air conditioner most often. If, during a pre-summer check, you find that the level of coolant is very low or its protection level is weak, it may be a good time to flush your cooling system. If you don't flush the system then, make sure to check the level again at the end of autumn to see whether you should flush it before the cold weather sets in. Determining hotf much coolant you need You can consult your owner's manual, the back of the coolant jug, or the charts that coolant manufacturers supply for the number of quarts that your cooling system holds. Divide that number by two and buy that amount of coolant. Adding an equal amount of water gives you a 50/50 water/coolant mixture, which is fine for everything but extremely cold weather. If your vehicle has an aluminum engine, make sure that the coolant is marked "Safe for use on aluminum engines." If the old coolant is extended-life coolant, replace it with the same stuff. (This option is better than following the instructions in this section, because air is less likely to be trapped in the system after you finish the job.) If you don't have a manual or it lacks such instructions, follow these steps to flush your cooling system and change the coolant without endangering the environment: 1. Park the vehicle in a safe place, away from children and small animals. Make sure that the engine is cold, the ignition is off, and the parking brake is on.
